Adult film actor Luka Magnotta is currently serving a life sentence for murdering, dismembering and eating his lover, Jun Lin, in May 2012.
Now, newly released letters written by Magnotta suggest he’s living the life behind bars.
The letters, which were acquired by the Montreal Gazette, brag about things like “pizza parties” with inmates, “all this chocolate for Valentines Day … ruining my diet,” and that “the food here is really, really good and they serve a lot. The Italian is the best. I also love the ice cream.”
“I really hope you’ll be able to make it in July to the little cottage here,” the 33-year-old murderer writes to a friend in a letter dated March 2015. “I’ll fill out the form and put you on the list. I’ll go shopping for the food and movies. We have movie channels and movie night here so I can get any title.”

After initially pleading not guilty, Magnotta eventually admitted to videotaping himself butchering and eating Lin, who he met through a Craigslist ad seeking a male bondage partner, then uploading the video to the Internet before cutting Lin up into little pieces and mailing his severed limbs to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and two elementary schools.
Liu’s headless torso was discovered by police near Magnotta’s home in Montreal in May 2012. Magnotta, however, had already hightailed it to Europe, where he was arrested a month later at an internet cafe in Berlin. A jury convicted him of first-degree murder in December 2014.
“I’m really enjoy playing hockey and tennis and I’ve lost a lot of weight,” Magnotta’s letter continues. “I’m looking forward to next month when the volleyball nets outside will be put up. I’ve always been an amazing player.”
“We have a nice gym here too for exercising,” he says. “It’s really important to getting the results I want. I spent 2 hours playing sports, one hour exercising and at night I go outside for a walk in the garden.”
“The lilacs,” he adds, “are my favorite.”
