The Mirror reports that police detonated a suspicious package found at Brighton’s gay pride event.

As a precaution, the parade was rerouted, though police said there was no immediate risk. An area remained sectioned off while the parade continued.

Later, a statement from police claimed the device was detonated as part of “normal police procedure.”

“We continue to work closely with Pride organizers to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” said Chief Superintendent Nev Kamp, “and ensure the safety of those attending events across the city today. We want everyone to continue to enjoy the Pride celebrations.”
