On Monday, we told you about Pastor Ben Bailey, a Tennessee preacher who said stoning gays is “the mindset of God.”

According to The New Civil Rights Movement, Bailey is backpedaling in the face of considerable backlash.

He told WTAE, “We do not believe in stoning homosexuals… and I didn’t teach that in the video. We do not believe any Christian anywhere should stone Christians.”

He claims he wants LGBT people “to go to heaven,” despite saying in his previous online sermon that “the Bible clearly teaches that homosexuals will not go to heaven.”

The reason he felt the need to share his sermon with the world?

“Our motivation is out of love.”
