Mom corrects birth announcement in support of transgender son

BRISBANE, Queensland, Australia — The mother of a transgender teen has taken out a classified ad in a local newspaper “correcting” her son’s birth announcement of 19 years ago.

In the birth section of the Brisbane Courier-Mail, Yolanda Bogert placed the birth retraction, announcing:

“In 1995 we announced the arrival of our sprogget Elizabeth Anne as a daughter. Oops our bad. We would like to present our wonderful son – Kai Bogert.”

Bogert told The Courier-Mail that placing the ad was “a no-brainer.”

“I needed to show my son I support him 100 percent and wanted to let the world know that,” she said.
