NEW YORK — Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC), the long-running HIV/AIDS prevention, care and advocacy group, has hired Kelsey Louie as its new chief executive officer.
Louie comes to GMHC after seven years of leading programs at the Harlem United Community AIDS Center, most recently as its Chief Operating Officer.
He replaces Janet Weinberg, who has been serving as the interim CEO since last fall following the departure of previous CEO Marjorie Hill.
Louie is a native New Yorker who holds an MSW from New York University and an MBA from Columbia University, and previously served as Coordinator of Counseling and Education at GMHC in 2006.

Louie’s appointment comes at a moment of increasing cultural focus on HIV/AIDS and GMHC, with the HBO film adaptation of “The Normal Heart” – which tells the story of GMHC’s founding – premiering on HBO on May 25, one week after the 29th annual AIDS Walk New York.
