A Florida Republican state lawmaker says new “common core” educational standards are designed to turn all school children gay.

Rep. Charles Van Zant (R-Keystone Heights, Fla.) says creating the standards, which have been adopted in 44 states, will attract “every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can.”

In a video obtained by Think Progress from the “Operation Education Conference” in Orlando in March, Van Zant warns that American Institutes for Research (AIR), the organization selected to develop the standards and testing, promotes a homosexual lifestyle for children.

“I really hate to bring you that news, but you need to know,” says Van Zant. “These people, that will now receive $220 million from the state of Florida unless this is stopped, will promote double-mindedness in state education and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can. I’m sorry to report that to you.”
