Bay County, Mich., approves policy change to protect LGBT county workers

BAY CITY, Mich. — The Bay County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved changes to the county’s personnel policy, protecting LGBT county workers from employment discrimination.

The 5-2 vote in favor of the changes means the policy changes take immediate effect, reports MLive.com.

The vote came about one month after the County Board voted 4-3 against enacting a new ordinance that would have prevented the same type of employment discrimination, but also looked to extend those protections to any county contractors.
