Rosa’s journey from ‘all gays should go to hell’ to loving her lesbian daughter

Rosa’s journey from ‘all gays should go to hell’ to loving her lesbian daughter

Imagine you have a husband, two infant girls, a house, and a marriage. Then your husband abandons you because he’s gay. That’s what happened to Rosa Manriquez.

“I really hated him. And it followed that I hated anyone who was gay. His lovers and anyone else. And I honestly believed that anyone who was gay should go to hell.”

But through prayer and guidance, Rosa not only found a way to find peace with the LGBTQ community, but loved and supported her daughter when she came out.

Rosa shares her journey here:

“I’m from Driftwood,” a collection of “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer stories from all over the world,” appears weekends on LGBTQ Nation. For more true LGBT stories, or to share your own, visit “I’m from Driftwood.”
