Obama writes post urging equal treatment for LGBT people

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama, in a message written for Huffingtonpost.com, is calling on the Senate to pass legislation prohibiting employment discrimination against gay, bisexual and transgender people.

ObamaObama’s administration has aggressively utilized social networking to convey its message, and Obama said workplace discrimination is “offensive.”

The president said in Sunday night’s post that job discrimination against gays quote, “needs to stop, because in the United States of America, who you are and who you love should never be a fireable offense.”

Obama also said that Congress needs to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).

During his presidency, Obama, among other moves, rescinded the “don’t ask, don’t tell” rule prohibiting gay military people from revealing their sexual orientation.

Obama says that in the post that America is “becoming more just as a nation.”
