Michael Douglas, ‘Behind the Candelabra’ take top honors at Emmys

Michael Douglas and HBO’s Liberace biopic “Behind the Candelabra” took top honors at 65th Emmy Awards Sunday night.

Douglas won for Lead Actor in a Miniseries for his portrayal of Liberace. The film also won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie, and Steven Soderbergh won for Directing, Miniseries or Movie.

Last week, “Candelabra” — starring Matt Damon alongside Douglas — captured eight awards at the Creative Arts Emmys, including statuettes for art direction, casting, editing, makeup and costumes.
