‘Cosby’ kid, ‘That’s so Raven’ star Raven-Symone comes out on Twitter

Raven-Symone, who played 3-year-old Olivia on the 1980s sitcom “The Cosby Show,” and later starred in the Disney Channel sitcom “That’s so Raven,” indicated publicly for the first time on Friday that she is a lesbian.

“I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and is being accepted,” Symone said in a statement through her representatives.

“I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to,” she said.

Earlier Friday, Symone tweeted, “I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you.”

A spokesperson for Symone said the tweet came after the actress heard an NPR report that more states had just legalized same-sex marriage.

Marriage equality laws took effect Thursday in Minnesota and Rhode Island, just weeks after same-sex marriage became legal in Delaware and California.

Symone’s sexual orientation was the subject of much speculation after the National Enquirer reported last year that she was living with an openly gay America’s Next Top Model contestant, to which she then tweeted: “”My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I’m datings to know. I’m not one for a public display of my life.”
