Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, 700 employees march in SF pride parade

Monday, July 1, 2013

Facebook founder and Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg joined more than 700 Facebook employees marching in San Francisco’s gay pride on Sunday.

Facebook sent about 15% of its workforce — all wearing special t-shirts designed for the event — to march along with a decorated trolley during the parade, reported The Wall Street Journal.

While Facebook has participated in previous gay pride events, this is the first time for Zuckerberg and such a large group to participate.

  9. I use the homophobes as a sharpening tool for my recruitment skills. You know they are all homosexuals just waiting for the right words to make them burst out of the closet right? :)

  12. Gather up an army of friends and report the page. If enough people report the page, facebook would have to do something.

  27. So he marches for gay pride but won’t introduce an “other” selection on your profile for gender? I’d call that a 4 on the 1-10 scale

  30. Welp, I guess all those “anti gays” can go somewhere else now, after all they’ll probably nickname facebook “Fagbook” now and we’ll see a mass exodus… either that or they’ll flock here to try to discriminate harder… one of the two.

  48. Awesome! Hopefully they learned a lot too and will make changes to properly to define and provide more diverse options around gender and relationships on Facebook. My correct sexual identity nor relationship status has never been an option on Facebook. :( It’s really not that usual to be attracted to ‘people’ vs. binary gender ideas like men and women which exclude trans people. It’s also possible to have a serious and committed relationships with more than one individual. Hopefully one day the team will attend enough Pride events and stay open minded enough to learn about, accept and accommodate the spectrum of humanity, sexuality and relationships. Good first steps though!
