Mass. high school awards Prom Queen title to transgender student

MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. — Cody Tubman, a high school student in Middleborough, Mass., became her school’s first transgender prom queen after being selected by her classmates on Tuesday.

Cody began transitioning during her sophomore year and said her high school was responsive to her needs, allowing her to use the female bathrooms and locker rooms.

But, she said, being named prom queen “was surprising and it was exciting, cause I was like, we’re coming really far.”
