Bryan Fischer: ‘There is no right to engage in immoral behavior’

On Monday’s radio program, American Family Association spokesperson Bryan Fischer went after President Obama for refusing to defend the Defense of Marriage Act before the Supreme Court, calling it a violation of his oath of office before declaring that people do not have any right whatsoever to engage in homosexual acts.

“They don’t have a moral right to do it, they don’t have an ethical right to do it, they don’t have a right to do it according to the laws of nature, and most importantly they do not have a right to do it according to the laws of God; and beyond that they do not have a right to do it according to the Constitution of the United States,” said Fischer.

In fact, Fischer argued, since all rights come from God, “no law can give you a right to do something that is immoral” and thus “there is no right to engage in immoral behavior:”

  16. He should look at choices in his own life before he starts comdemning others. I hear heterosexual people do a lot of weird things in bed. Besides, how is being homosexual immoral?

  30. So I guess his bigotry is immoral enough to earn him hell

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 11:59am
  31. Actually, yeah we all DO have the right to be as immoral as we choose, what we don’t have the right to do is force others to live according to OUR morals.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:01pm
  32. If there is no right to do so, why is HE doing it?

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:01pm
  33. Judge not Mr. Fischer, lest ye be judged. And…you have been judged a hate mongering, bigoted, ill-informed, hate-filled assclown who needs to be charged with human rights violations in part to the perpetration of the discrimination of a minority both in the US and abroad, the suicides and deaths due to his hate speech, and mental anguish.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:02pm
  34. immoral according to whom?

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:02pm

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:05pm
  36. The US Supreme Court ruled in 2003 that Homosexuals have a Constitutional Right to engage in Homosexual sex. In June, I am confident they will rule the same for same-sex marriage.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:08pm
  40. He’s right, but since there is nothing immoral about homosexuality he’s got nothing here.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:09pm
  41. Look who’s talking….

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:09pm
  42. My eye twitches when I listen to things that smell rotten

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:12pm
  43. Laws cannot give rights and only god can? really? This nutcase does not know his American legal system and that his right of free speech gives him the right to spew his hate and yet I support his right to free speech for a couple reasons. It’s an American right for one thing. and second it shows the true face of bigotry and it shows the people how we know are true Americans who know the American way on inalienable rights being an American gives us.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:25pm
  44. Accusing any marriage whether that be same-sex or otherwise of being “Immoral” is hypocracy at it’s best and he wants to involve God? God can’t be okay with Gay Marriage but priests screwing little boys is just fine? Straight marriages are falling apart right and left, but introduce something that WILL WORK, it’s immoral, Come on America…

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:26pm
  45. One man’s immoral is another man’s sacred.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:29pm

  47. Shame!

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:53pm
  48. Actually there is. Considering being a lush aka a wine-o is “immoral” but it’s legal as long as you don’t go driving or beating people.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:54pm
  49. He doesn’t get to define morality for the rest of us.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:16pm
  50. I hope he was talking about the CATHOLIC CHURCH and their PRIESTS!

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:16pm
  51. You’re right Bryan, there is no right to engage in immoral behavior. That’s why we’re telling you to stop engaging in immoral behavior!

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:19pm
  52. It’s only immoral because the church has deemed it so. The church has spent centuries telling people how they should behave, what they should believe, and how they should act. I think the time has come for the church to let people think for themselves rather than thinking for them. It’s time for a change.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:23pm
  53. That old man come from a different time. Back in his day, his religion supported all types of hatred, blacks, gay, interracial relationships just to name a few. He need to step down and let the new generation teaching the true value of unconditional love for all gods children because his religion obvious doesnt.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:30pm
  54. Except immorality is completely subjective and this is a secular country? I’m so tired of hearing about stuff like this. People just need to get over themselves and realize that they are imposing on the basic human rights and freedom of the LGBTQ community.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:40pm
  55. Well since you have no right to judge others shut the fuck up

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:40pm
  56. Larry Flynt called, he is offended at being called moral. He swears up and down that there IS indeed a Constitutional right to immorality, and it turns out the Supreme Court agrees with him.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:58pm
  57. HATE is immoral behavior.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:06pm
  58. p.s. why do you feel the need to be so involved with gay people? stay out of everyone’s business.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:07pm
  59. Again he forgets the words of Jesus. If it is a sin to you, dont do it because you would be sinning against your own body. So if it dont apply dont do it. And dont push your ideals on us either because that is the same as rape.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:35pm
  60. He enjoys not having to pay taxes and spread evil.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:38pm
  61. I think we a different definition of what’s immoral. For example I think it’s immoral to try and push your own beliefs onto others. I think it’s immoral to deny someone the right to legal recognition, economic well being, peace of mind and overall happiness in life. Unless you’re the one living my life (which you’re not) let me live it as I choose.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:45pm
  62. weird, I don’t see people making divorce, adultery, cursing, tattoos, shell fish, football, and the list goes on and on and on and on…all of which are ‘immoral’ in the bible.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:54pm
  63. Right, and hateful bigotry like his is immoral. Glad the piece of crap finally agrees.

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 3:45pm
  64. Mr. Fischer- you are exactly that which you rail against— immorality is your petard!
