AFER debunks NOM’s new marriage propaganda video

The American Foundation for Equal Rights is debunking a new video by the National Organization for Marriage — entitled “Marriage 101” — calling it propaganda that includes claims that NOM knows are not true.

The NOM “is spending millions of dollars this election to prevent gay and lesbian couples from getting married,” said Adam D. Umhoefer, Executive Director of American Foundation for Equal Rights. “They know they can’t win if they tell the truth about marriage equality, so instead they perpetuate misinformation and lies laced with fear and prejudice.”

The American Foundation for Equal Rights is the sole sponsor of the federal court challenge to Proposition 8, California’s 2008 voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage.
