On Wednesday’s “Faith and Freedom” program, Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber declared that gay activists don’t actually want marriage equality but rather are interested in “deconstructing the Judeo-Christian notion of marriage as marriage has always been.”
In fact, Barber claimed, the institution of marriage has always been about restricting which sorts of relationships are legitimate, which is why “people can’t marry children, people can’t marry close relatives, people can’t marry their favorite pet.”
Barber then warned that if “we’re going to break the institution of marriage and radically redefine it” then “polygamy is inevitable if same-sex marriage becomes the law of the land and we can no longer have prohibitions on incestuous marriage”:

You can marry your first cousin, legally, in states all over this country. You cannot marry a dog or a child because a dog or a child cannot enter into a legally binding contract. Polygamy is practiced all over the world, and is part of the biblical definition of marriage. I have said it before, and I will say it again; Marriage is not a religious entity, it is a contractual agreement between two people. This is why it takes a court of law to dissolve the union. If it were of religion, which is what it is masked as, we could just go back to the clergy who united us and get the marriage dissolved. I understand that in some religions, the marriage has to be dissolved by the church, as well as the court, but this is not necessary to become legally divorced. Now, as for this man’s statements, wtf? Two consenting adults, no matter what gender, is nothing like incest or child marriage. Sicko! And as far as polygamous paths, who cares? We all follow our own path. No I do not think any child should be harmed or put into adult situations, but the people who believe in that type of marriage, and are consenting adults, so it should be. Equality is for all. And do not bring the idea of children into this adult conversation. Children should be protected from all adult issues. And gay and lesbian couples should have children if they want. A family is a family, and they deserve equal rights to take care of their families as we all should.
