LGBT Watch at the Olympics: Doubles star Lisa Raymond goes for the bronze

Spoiler alert: LGBT Watch at the Olympics is a regular feature tracking the nearly two dozen LGBT athletes at the London 2012 Olympics. In the U.S., NBC is tape-delaying much of the games on its local stations, yet live-streaming on the Internet. Some of the results listed below may not have yet been broadcast in your area.

American tennis doubles player Lisa Raymond, a 39-year-old lesbian from Wayne, Pa., will be playing for two bronze medals on Sunday at the London 2012 Olympics.

Raymond and doubles partner Liezel Huber, 35, will play Maria Kirilenko, 25, and Nadia Petrova, 30, of Russia for third place on Sunday on Wimbledon’s Court 1. The Americans were seed No. 1 and the Russians were No. 3.

Raymond and mixed doubles partner Mike Bryan, 34, will play Sabine Lisicki, 22, and Christopher Kas, 32, of Germany for third place, also on Sunday on Wimbledon’s Court 1. The Americans were seeded No. 3 and the Germans were not seeded.

In the mixed doubles semifinals on Saturday, Raymond and Bryan lost to Max Mirnyi/Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.

On Friday, Raymond and Huber lost in the semifinals to the Czech team of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka 6-1, 7-6 (7-2).

Field Hockey

The powerful Netherlands field hockey team beat South Korea 3-2 on Saturday and will conclude Group A play on Wednesday against Great Britain.

Led by lesbians Marilyn Agliotti, Maartje Paumen and Carlien Dirkse van den Heuvel, the Dutch are unbeaten at 4-0 and will advance to the quarterfinals. Great Britain is 3-1, China is 2-1-1, South Korea is 1-3, Belgium is 0-2-2 and Japane is 0-1-3 in group play.

Cycling

In women’s team pursuit on Saturday, Germany finished eighth out of 10 teams. Judith Arndt, a lesbian who won the silver medal in women’s time trial, rode for the Germans.

Triathlon

Two lesbians representing France competed Saturday in the triathlon. Jessica Harrison finished ninth and Carole Péon finished 29th.
