Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: ‘I wish you a happy Pride’

WASHINGTON — U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday released a recorded message commemorating LGBT Pride Month.

“I am delighted to join you to celebrate the fundamental freedoms that all human beings deserve – no matter who you are or who you love. This month, and every month, we reaffirm our commitment to making sure all human beings are equal in dignity and rights under the law,” said Clinton.

“In the United States and around the world, we see progress being made. The tireless advocacy of generations is helping to bend that arc of history. Barriers are being torn down, discriminatory laws repealed, millions more around the world are now able to live more freely and participate in the future of their communities and countries.

“But there is still is a lot to be done. The LGBT community continues to be persecuted and attacked.”

Watch:

“History proves that the march toward equality and justice will overcome barriers of intolerance and discrimination,” Clinton concludes. “But it only will happen if all of us work together. No matter how long the road ahead, I’m confident that we will continue to see progress and success.”
