Kirk Cameron on homosexuality: ‘Unnatural, destructive to foundations of civilization’

Former “Growing Pains” actor and self-proclaimed born again Christian Kirk Cameron, appearing Friday on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” and said marriage was “defined by God,” and that homosexuality is “unnatural” and “destructive” to the foundations of civilization.

Cameron, 41, best known for his role as Mike Seaver on the ABC television series from 1985 to 1992, is an active Christian evangelist in the ministry he founded, The Way of the Master, and also co-founded The Firefly Foundation with his wife, actress Chelsea Noble.

Speaking on the topic of same-sex marriage, Cameron said:

“Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either,” explains Cameron. “So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.”

And on homosexuality, Cameron added:

“I think that it’s – it’s – it’s unnatural. I think that it’s – it’s detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”
