In the October issue of GQ Magazine, actor Clint Eastwood comes out in favor of gay marriage.

The Oscar-winning director is promoting “J. Edgar,” his biopic about J. Edgar Hoover, the controversial longtime FBI chief, who many suspected to be closeted.

“These people who are making a big deal about gay marriage?” Eastwood tells GQ.

“I don’t give a fuck about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not?! We’re making a big deal out of things we shouldn’t be making a deal out of … Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want.”

“I was an Eisenhower Republican when I started out at 21, because he promised to get us out of the Korean War,” Eastwood tells the magazine. “And over the years, I realized there was a Republican philosophy that I liked. And then they lost it. And libertarians had more of it. Because what I really believe is, let’s spend a little more time leaving everybody alone.

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who stars in the film as Hoover, said it is most infuriating to watch “people focus on these things … Meanwhile, there’s the onset of global warming and these incredibly scary and menacing things with the future of our economy.”

  20. Too many people are in the business of minding other people’s
business, and telling the what is right, and what is wrong.
Tell these folks to get a life and live it.

There if you want it straight there it is. I believe the English wanker perfectly describes little Leonard.

  24. Carol, I’m sorry, are there some liberals trying to force you into a gay marriage or something?

  25. He said libertarian not liberal. BIG difference!

  26. If so many people feel that way, how do the scumbag Republicans deprive their loyal voters of jobs, educations, housing and healthcare while providing billions in tax breaks for the wealthiest individuals and corporations by promising to keep them safe from gay marriage and abortions? Or is it by promising to let them keep their guns?

Clint and other influential voices are welcome, but they need to do MORE to change the paradigm.
