Tim Pawlenty: marriage equality ‘defies common sense’

GOP presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty, appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, said that gay marriage being equal to heterosexual marriage “defies common sense.”

Pawlenty also said that same-sex marriage “dilutes and devalues” traditional marriage, and that traditional marriage should be “elevated” — “elevated” as in “morally or intellectually superior,” according to my handy online dictionary.

Earlier this month, appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Pawlenty said “there’s no scientific conclusion that [being gay] is genetic,” and that he does not support allowing gay couples “to have the same benefits and public employment as traditional couples.”
