New York’s hometown newspapers differ on significance of marriage equality

The New York Daily News makes note of yesterday’s historical passage of the Marriage Equality Act, granting same-sex couples the right to wed.

The New York Post, however, apparently did not consider the passage of marriage equality to be of such historical significance.

No surprise, however, as the Post last week published an editorial rejecting marriage equality, and said that “in the long run … society will be better served by retaining the traditional, time-tested definition of marriage.”

“If we had a vote, it would be no,” said the Post.
