A majority of West Australians support gay marriage.

According to a recent poll, 61 percent of respondents are in favor of gay marriage, compared with 33 percent who are opposed. Support for gay marriage among people under 35 is even stronger, with 77 percent in favor.

“Young people in particular get that (gay marriage) is not a threat to the community or to anyone, really,” said Member of Parliament Giz Watson.
