Texas TV station asks its viewers: Will homosexuality be the ‘downfall of America?’

A Texas television station is asking its viewers whether they think homosexuality will cause the downfall of the United States.

KETK-TV, an NBC affiliate in Tyler, TX, reporting on news that the President Barack Obama has appointed more LGBT officials to his administration that any previous U.S. president, partnered with KTBB-AM radio station to poll its audience on the subject:

“President Obama, very aggressive in his appointment of homosexuals,” said Garth Maier of KTBB Radio. “Christian conservatives of course, criticizing President Obama for upholding what is considered by many and immoral lifestyle … Will the acceptance of homosexuality in this society be the downfall of America?” Watch here:

You can follow some of KETK’s viewer comments on its website, most of which take the station to task for asking the question. A couple of examples below:

Congratulations! As as Dallas-ite and a person who works in communications, your station has succeeded in defining itself as the most bigoted broadcast news outlet in Texas. Regrettably, this segment will reinforce negative stereotypes about Texans. You certainly are not working “…in the interest of viewers as a public trustee.”

I love how they cut off the people for equality and yet let crazy lunatics rant as long as they want. Wanting EQUAL rights isn’t “pushing an agenda.” Take this argument, and put it 50 years ago, but replace homosexuals with blacks, and it’s history repeating itself.
