McDonald’s is running a new ad on French TV that features a gay teen and his father, who is unaware of his son’s orientation.
The ad shows a gay teen seated at a McDonald’s table, talking to his boyfriend on his cell phone. He hangs up when he sees his father coming.
The father, unaware of his son’s sexual orientation, proceeds to joke about the son’s all-male class at school. “It’s a shame you’re in an all boys college. You would have had all the girls chasing you.”
The gay son only smiles as they begin eating their food. Watch here:
The commercial, part of McDonald’s “Come as you are” campaign, is intended to show that it welcomes people from all walks of life.

wait… but why does his father assume that he’s straight then? i’m so confused…
I think that its showing your welcome here and we won’t judge you, at the end of the commercial the kid smirks and it looks like he maybe about to tell his dad.
this is a great thing mcD is doing..in the video his dad doesnt know and it doesnt look like hes about to tell him, majority of gay teens hide their sexual orientation…America needs commercials like this…im lovin it
It could been much better ad,but is a start ^_^
im moving to france and eating at mcdonalds. lol!! maybe there it wont be so uncomfortable when im with my gf.
I am not a huge fan of MD but, this is interesting and very progressive. They are probably the major fastfood chain to do this, they just need to do it here. I think it would go a long way toward scaling back some of the alienation of our gay population.

I’ve worked there 4+ years, mcdonalds is a very “gay friendly” place to work, they have partner benifits and everything! don’t judge dammmitt!
This ad make me feel uncomfortable.. I feel so bad the Dad doesn’t know! I get a very open message from McD’s and from the boy and I guess that’s the message but the other side of the story is such a downer. Soooo.. is this really the best McDonald’s could do to make gays feel welcome and was a welcoming message REALLY necessary?
I think it was a very nice commercial. Too bad McDonald’s has awful food.
